What this place is
Caria is a certified organic agroforest: fruit trees, vegetable beds and medicinal plants growing in layers, the way a young woodland does. We've been planting it since 2015. The pitches sit inside that, not beside it.

Maceira sits inland from the Silver Coast, between Torres Vedras and the sea. Quiet lanes, no through traffic, and the beaches are a short drive rather than a day trip.

Before you book
A short, honest list. If any of it is a problem, better to find somewhere that suits you.
We have no grey or black water dump. The nearest point is about 3 km away and we'll show you exactly where.
The agroforest is young and the summers here are dry. Gas cooking is fine; fires and charcoal barbecues are not.
Pitches are sized for a single vehicle. Travelling as a convoy? Book a pitch each and tell us, and we'll put you together.
Someone comes out to meet you, so we need to know roughly when. Arriving outside those hours is sometimes possible, but ask us on WhatsApp before you set off.
Tractors start early in season, animals make animal noises, and the ground is earth rather than tarmac.
They're welcome everywhere, but the animals are working animals. An adult goes with them.

Questions
Better not. We need at least 24 hours' notice, because someone has to be free to meet you and get a pitch ready. If you're already on the road and stuck, message the WhatsApp number and we'll tell you honestly whether there's room.
For normal van use — lights, fridge, laptops, phone charging — yes, it's in the €28. If you're running a heater, air conditioning or charging an electric car, we meter it and you settle the actual cost on departure. No markup.
Yes. The farm's own drinking water, €4 per 100 litres. What we can't do is take your waste water — there's no dump point here. The nearest one is about 3 km away.
Most people stay a day or two on the way to the coast. Longer stays are possible outside the busiest weeks — ask when you book and we'll tell you what we can hold.
A guided tour of the agroforest (€10 a head), the farm shop, bicycles at €10 a day, and the playground. The courses and workshops we run are open to guests too when the dates line up.
Yes, €4 a day. On a lead anywhere near the animals or the vegetable beds, and not left alone in the van barking at an empty farm.
Tell us as early as you can and we'll sort it out properly. Plans change on the road and we'd rather know than keep a pitch empty.
